Smith and TaxSlayer Team Warming Up

Smith’s string of four consecutive top-10 finishes have placed him a mere two markers out of the Nationwide Series points lead. He has one top-five, four top-10s and an average finish of 5.7 in that time span, leading all Nationwide Series regulars in average finishing position and points earned.

“Richmond is a track I enjoy; it just doesn’t like me back. Short track racing is a lot of fun, but at Richmond it can be a real challenge. It’s still early in the season and we’re keeping the big picture in mind. So for me, I want to leave Richmond with a decent points day. I think a top-10 is realistic, and if things go our way, a top-five is definitely doable. “It will be a lot of fun to compete in the Short Track Showdown on Thursday night. Plus, getting extra laps around Richmond will only help us on Friday night. I want to thank JR Motorsports and Speedco for letting me borrow their No. 88 late model for the night. I’ve had to sit back and watch that race for the past couple years, and I’m thrilled to be competing in it this year.”
