Regan Smith Takes Ownership Of NNS Championship Points Battle;
Sets Sights On Darlington

Hellmann’s Chevrolet Camaro

Following a dramatic victory at Talladega Superspeedway last weekend, Smith now holds the top spot in the Nationwide Series Championship battle by 27 markers over Sam Hornish Jr. It’s the first time in the organization’s history that a JRM driver has led the points. Additionally, it’s also a first for Smith, a native of Cato, N.Y.  After respective finishes of 14th and 11th in the season’s first two races, Smith and the Greg Ives-led No. 7 team have gone on a tear in the past six races, amassing one win, three top-fives and six top-10s.

In honor of Hellmann’s 100th birthday, Smith’s No. 7 ride at Darlington will feature a special celebratory paint scheme complete with balloons, confetti and a chocolate-mayo cake on the hood. You can find the special recipe to the Hellmann’s chocolate-mayo cake at

 “Darlington is by far my favorite race track. I have a lot of amazing memories there. I’m looking forward to
heading down there with our Hellmann’s Chevy and the points lead. To go there with the points lead is
huge and we’ll be looking to build on it.“There is just something about Darlington. Every time I pull in there I feel good and I enjoy it. The best way I can describe Darlington is it’s the racing equivalent to Fenway Park or Wrigley Field. It’s so legendary with the history and tradition there. It’s almost like you can see that all that time, the history, and the age that is in that place. I got a really cool parking spot in Champion’s Alley after my Cup win there too. I always make sure to take a picture of it when I’m there.”

Smith’s win at Talladega was the 11th overall win for JR Motorsports and the team’s first restrictor plate victory...It marked Smith’s second career win in Nationwide Series competition...Both his victories have come with JRM...By winning for JR Motorsports at Homestead-Miami Speedway in the No. 5 car and Talladega Superspeedway in the No. 7, he is also the first JRM driver to win multiple races with multiple car numbers...It was the first win in 110 starts for the No. 7 Chevrolet under the JRM banner...The finish gives Smith two wins, four top-fives and seven top-10s in nine career starts with JRM.
