Smith’s Strong Season Continues

Speedco Chevrolet Camaro

Still atop the championship points battle by five markers over second place, Smith is tied with Sam Hornish Jr. for most top-10 finishes among Nationwide Series regulars with 13. Smith has also amassed 12 bonus points on the season. He is second in that category among series regulars.

“The past two weeks have been frustrating for our Speedco team. At Daytona and Loudon we ran well and in the top five. We’ve just been unable to put an entire race together and have it play out like we need to. Top-10’s are good, but when you run top-three and top-five all day, it makes them difficult to accept. I won’t say I don’t think about the points. It’s just that right now our main focus is getting back to maintaining positions in the closing laps and capitalizing on opportunities. If we can do that, the points will take care of itself.”

Smith has notched eight top-10 finishes at speedways in 2013, giving him more than any other series regular. Along with those eight top-10’s, Smith holds one win (Michigan International Speedway) and two top-fives in speed-way competition this season.

Speedco Truck Lube and Tire is featured as primary sponsor of Regan Smith and the No. 7 team this weekend. Speedco is a national company that specializes in quick lubes and tire services for the trucking industry. The addition of Speedco as a primary sponsor is an expansion of an already prosperous partnership.

With Speedco’s backing, JRM produced its first championship as a company last season when Josh Berry took the track title at Motor Mile Speedway (Radford, Va.). Speedco also serves as a full-season associate sponsor on both of JRM’s Nationwide entries.

Smith and the 7 team will bring chassis No. 786 to Chicago. Smith owns two top-10 finishes with this chassis at Texas Motor Speedway and Dover International Speedway.
