Defending Winners Chevrolet Camaro

Smith and JR Motorsports return to Homestead-Miami Speedway as the defending winners of the Nationwide Series season finale. The event not only marked Smith’s first race with JRM, but his first win in Nationwide Series competition. Smith led twice for a total of 24 laps and took the checkered flag 1.375 seconds ahead of runner-up Kyle Busch.

“It’s a great feeling going back to Homestead as the defending race winner. It was such a big win for everyone at JRM and a heck of a way to cap the year off. We learned a lot there last year and it gives us  solid start for the weekend. “This team is strong and we have a lot of different strengths. Just look at the improvements and the gains we’ve made in the past 12 months. Our Tax-Slayer team is a contender week in and week out now. And we know each week when we get to the race track, we’re going to have an opportunity to go to victory lane. We feel really good about that. The simple fact that we’re still not where we want to be and disappointed with third in points, that’s a strength, too. It means we’re not happy with it and we’re capable of more, and we’re going to do more come next year.”

Fans have only a few more days to vote for Regan Smith in this year’s Nationwide Series Most Popular Driver Program. Voting is open at and continues through the season finale at Homestead-Miami Speedway. It is limited to one vote per 24 hours.

If Smith maintains third position in the NNS driver standings through Homestead (he is 28 points ahead of fourth place Justin Allgaier), he will tie Brad Keselowski for highest championship finish by a JRM driver. Keselowski finished third for JRM in 2008 and 2009.

Smith concludes his first full season with JRM competing fulltime in the Nationwide Series this weekend in
Homestead.  With two wins this season (Michigan International Speedway and Talladega Superspeedway), he remains the only Nationwide Series regular with multiple wins in 2013. In addition, he notched eight top-fives and 19 top-10 finishes through 32 of 33 races with JRM this year. In those events, he led 219 laps and earned an average finish of 10.4. Smith will return in 2014 to drive JRM’s No. 7 Chevrolet Camaro fulltime in the Nationwide Series.

Fans can see Regan Smith at the Sprint Experience in the Homestead-Miami Speedway fan zone on Saturday, Nov. 16, at 11:45 a.m. EST for a Q & A session.

Smith and the 7 team will race chassis No. 821 at Homestead. This chassis raced at Charlotte Motor Speedway and at Chicagoland Speedway in September with the 88 team. Dale Earnhardt Jr. raced it to a fifth-place finish.
