TaxSlayer Makes Its 7 Debut at Phoenix

No. 7 Chevrolet Camaro

A cornerstone partner of JRM, makes its 7 car debut this weekend. The company began the season with Dale Earnhardt Jr. and the No. 88 Chevrolet at Daytona last week, but it moves to the 7 car for Phoenix. Smith drove the Chevy to two victories last season (Talladega Superspeedway and Michigan International Speedway).

Smith’s win was JRM’s 13th overall victory in NNS competition. The victory was his fourth win in 137 NNS races, all coming with JRM. It also gives Smith his first NNS win in nine starts at Daytona. The margin of victory (0.013 sec.) is the seventh closest ever in NNS competition, and second closest in series history at Daytona. It also marked the 300thwin for the Hendrick Motorsports engine program.

“Our entire organization is still riding the excitement of Daytona. I know the 7 team ended up in victory lane but it really was a company victory. Everyone at JR Motorsports had a hand in it. You want to win each and every week, but a win at Daytona is on a whole other level. Between our win on Saturday and Dale Jr.’s win on Sunday, there is a lot to be pumped up about. Still we have to keep focused on the next race, and we’re looking forward to this weekend."

"Phoenix was a challenge for us last spring. We came back and did our homework, changed some things and left out of there with a top-five last fall. “We left Daytona with the points lead, but it’s a long season. Something I’ve learned is to not pay attention to the points. I’m sure I’ll hear about it one way or another, but I’m not going to really look at it until we get to race 20 or 25. I’m going to focus on getting our TaxSlayer Chevy out front and winning races. The rest will take care of itself.”

Smith scored his career-best finish at Phoenix in NNS competition last fall, driving the No. 7 Chevrolet for JR Motorsports. In six NNS starts at the one-mile facility, he owns one top-five and a pair of top-10 finishes.

Regan Smith, winner of last week’s season opener at Daytona, has been tabbed as ESPN’s In-Race Reporter for the NASCAR Nationwide Series (NNS)race at Phoenix. Fans can submit questions for Smith by clicking here or visiting and searching “In Race Reporter”.

Smith will help debut an all-new Dirty Mo Radio podcast called “JRM 360 The Podcast” when it goes live Friday morning on and iTunes. Dirty Mo Radio is the official online podcasting center of Dale Earnhardt Jr. and is introducing three new programs in 2014.“JRM 360 The Podcast” will take a unique look at the personalities inside JR Motorsports with a new show each Friday throughout the season.
