Points Leader To Try His Luck In Las Vegas

No. 7 NAPA Synthetic Motor Oil Chevrolet

Heading for Las Vegas and the season’s third race, Regan Smith sits atop the NASCAR Nationwide Series driver standings by five points over second-place Trevor Bayne. It’s familiar territory for Smith, as in 2013 he held the top spot for 10 consecutive races (Talladega Superspeedway through New Hampshire Motor Speedway). Smith finished third in the 2013 NNS championship standings.

“We had a great off-season test at Nashville, so a lot of those notes will be beneficial to us in Las Vegas. Our entire organization learned a lot there, and I’m excited to put it to work this weekend. We ran top-10 at Vegas last year, but I know we can do better and that’s our primary focus.”

“We’re proud to have NAPA Synthetic Motor Oil on the 7 car. NAPA has been a solid supporter of JR Motorsports, and with Chase in the No. 9 NAPA AUTO PARTS Chevy, the way I see it we have double the opportunity to get them in victory lane this weekend. It will be fun for sure.”

NAPA Synthetic Motor Oil joins the No. 7 team and Regan Smith for this weekend’s event at Las Vegas Motor Speedway. A specially-blended version of Valvoline Racing Oil, NAPA Synthetic Motor Oil is available at your local NAPA AUTO PARTS store. Visit www.napaonline.com to find a store near you.

Smith and the No. 7 NAPA Synthetic Motor Oil team have come out of the gate strong, scoring a win and a top-10 finish in the season’s first two races. Smith’s average finish in those events is 4.5. Smith won the season-opening DRIVE4COPD 300 at Daytona International Speedway, outlasting Brad Keselowski in a side-by-side duel to the checkered flag. Smith edged Keselowski by .013 seconds, making it the seventh-closest margin of victory in Nationwide Series history.

Smith’s seventh-place finish last year at Las Vegas was his best ever at that venue. At 1.5-mile facilities, Smith holds one win (Homestead-Miami in 2012), two top-fives and six top-10 finishes with JRM.

JRM’s first NNS victory came at Las Vegas Motor Speedway on March 1, 2008, with Mark Martin. To date, the company has accumulated 13 wins with five different drivers, including Ron Fellows, Brad Keselowski, Jamie McMurray, Martin and Smith. Keselowski tops the list with six victories and Smith is a close second with four.
