Smith Continues Top-10 Streak at Dover

Regan Smith added another top-10 finish to his season-long tally in Saturday’s Buckle Up 200 at Dover International Speedway. Smith and the No. 7 Breyers team finished 10th, improving their consecutive top-10 streak to 12 races.

The effort still proved a challenge for the team, as Smith battled a tight condition for much of the race. Smith drove to the cusp of the top-five on lap 32 then drifted to eighth and settled into ninth for a long green-flag run around the race’s midway point.

Smith posted competitive laps times, but being trapped in mid-pack traffic, passing came at a premium. The team held on to cross the finish line in 10th. The finish helps Smith retain the series points lead for the second week in a row. Additionally, he remains the only Nationwide Series regular with a top-10 finish in every race this year.

“It was a battle for us today. I don’t think we were really comfortable with the car all weekend long. Ryan and the guys did a great job trying to rope it in, but it was definitely a challenge. We just wanted to get what we could out of the Breyers car today. And it’s a long season so you’re going to have days like today. We’ll just learn from it and when we come back here, we’ll be that much better. You know, we still salvaged a decent effort and ran top-10, and on a day like today, I think that says a lot about the strength of this team.”
