Smith Looks To Even The Odds At Kentucky

No. 7 Clean Coal Chevrolet

Regan Smith returns to Kentucky Speedway hoping to even the odds that seem stacked against him.  With a solid showing at intermediate venues overall, Kentucky is one of only three 1.5-mile facilities where the No. 7 team didn’t earn a top-10 finish in 2013. Smith is hoping change is in the air as he wheels into the tri-oval on Friday.

“For whatever reason, Kentucky has been a hurdle for our team. Both races last year, we seemed to have some type of issue there. So we’re fully expecting to change our luck this year. We’ve seen the strength of JRM team cars at the intermediate tracks this year and we hope to capitalize on that with the Clean Coal Chevy this weekend.”

“Getting the proper balance will be a big factor to success at Kentucky. The track has some fairly unique properties with the amount of bumps it has. Having a car that can get through those bumps the best will be the one to beat on Friday night.”

KENTUCKY FIRST
Smith earned his only NASCAR pole in 2007 at Kentucky Speedway during NNS competition.

FIRST OF THREE FOR CLEAN COAL
Clean Coal returns to the No. 7 car as primary sponsor for its first of three races this season. 2014 marks the third-consecutive year of JRM’s partnership with the American Coalition for Clean Coal Electricity (ACCCE). ACCCE supports energy policies that balance coal’s role in supplying the United States with affordable and reliable electricity. Smith will also carry the Clean Coal colors in races at Mid-Ohio (Aug. 16) and Chicagoland Speedway (Sept. 13). Learn more by visiting www.americaspower.org.
