Smith Looking To Get Out Front In Fontana

No. 7 Suave Men Chevrolet

The West Coast swing has been good for Smith. In the first two legs of the three-race segment, Smith has finished third and ninth. At Auto Club Speedway, he’s been in the top 10 the last three races, including a career best third-place run in 2013.

“Two-mile tracks like Auto Club Speedway have been good for me. There’s plenty of room to race and it suits my driving style. There are a lot of grooves to choose from, so you can find a place where the car works the best. We’ve gotten better every week, and Jason (Burdett, crew chief) is making great calls in the pits. It’s truly a team effort and we’re getting some momentum going. I’m really looking forward to putting the Suave Men Chevrolet at the front this weekend.”

In the three races since Daytona’s season-opening event, Smith has an average finish of 7.0. He’s moved from 26th in points after Daytona to seventh, within striking distance of the top four this weekend at Auto Club Speedway.

Smith will feature new colors on his No. 7 JRM Chevrolet this weekend. Suave Men’s blue and white will adorn Smith’s Camaro this weekend. Suave Men products include shampoos, hair-care products and body washes and are sold at major retailers everywhere.

Since coming to JRM in 2013, Smith has been a two-mile master. In four races over two seasons, Smith has one victory (Michigan), a third-place at Auto Club Speedway and top-10 finishes at each. That’s an average finish of 5.5 on tracks measuring two miles in length.

An avid hockey fan, Smith attended Tuesday night’s NHL game in Nashville between the hometown Predators and the Minnesota Wild with officials from Bristol (Tenn.) Motor Speedway. In addition to helping promote BMS’ upcoming April races, Smith participated in a tweet-up, mingled with Predators VIPs, visited the locker room and was interviewed live during a TV time-out before taking in the rest of the game.
