Bristol Brings High Stakes for Smith

No. 7 Dale’s Pale Ale Chevrolet

Regan Smith earned his first victory of the season last week at Mid-Ohio. The win also marked the fifth of his NXS career, all of which have come at JR Motorsports. Smith is third on JR Motorsports’ NXS wins list behind Kevin Harvick and Brad Keselowski, both of whom have six each.

“It’s huge to get that [winless streak] off our backs, it’s been really difficult over the last 52 races. Once you do it [win a race] once, you want to do that every week. That moment when you pull up to the pit wall and do a burnout with your guys standing there, who put so much time and effort into everything that you get to go out there and showcase, there’s no moment like that, nothing that compares to that, no feeling or sensation. We want to win this weekend, for sure, with the XFINITY Dash4Cash on the line, and there’s no better place for it than Bristol. We’re looking forward to it.”

DASH4CASH
After sweeping the first two segments of the four-race XFINITY Dash4Cash, Smith heads to Bristol looking to make it three straight. He’ll have to battle Ryan Blaney, Daniel Suarez and Elliott Sadler for the $100,000 payday this weekend on the .533-mile oval. Should he win the bonus again, he’ll compete for a $1 million payout on Labor Day weekend at Darlington (S.C.) Raceway.

REVERSAL OF FORTUNE
What a difference a week makes. From the disappointment of Watkins Glen a week earlier, Smith’s victory at Mid-Ohio got him back on the right track heading to Bristol. Shaving six points off his deficit to point leader Chris Buescher, Smith heads to Thunder Valley with a spring in his step and looking for more.

MULTIPLE CHANCES TO SEE REGAN
Smith will appear at Food City Race Night in Bristol from 7-8 p.m. ET Thursday on behalf of JRM partner Hellmann’s. On Friday, he will appear at the JR Motorsports merchandise trailer at 2 p.m. ET on behalf of Dale’s Pale Ale, and at 2:35 p.m. ET in the XFINITY Zone to talk about the Dash4Cash event later that evening.
