Rough & Tumble For Reagan In Ohio

Lexington, OH (August 12, 2017) - Regan Smith stepped in to the #18 Interstate Batteries Toyota for the Mid-Ohio Challenge in the Xfinity Series. Qualifying 12th, he started from the back of the field after puncturing a tire during qualifying.

Lap 13 showed him in the top-10 but after spinning out, he was knocked back to 34th. As he steadily worked his way back to the front of the field, Stage One found him finishing in 20th position. Smith wisely stayed out between cautions to start Stage Two in 9th and though he fought a tight car, he finished Stage Two in a solid 7th.

After pitting, Smith began Stage Three in 6th and planned to continue to march to the front of the pack but tangled with other cars on a lap 57 restart then was forced to pit on lap 59 because of a tire rub. On lap 67 Regan was caught up in a huge multi-car accident and could not continue. He officially finished in 28th position for the day.
